Lyons 103 has a Visitor Management System

Dear Lyons 103 Parents and Guardians,

As you know school safety has been an ongoing focus for Lyons 103, and in addition to the physical upgrades we have been making across our six schools, the Board of Education recently approved the purchase and implementation of a visitor management system to further secure our students and staff. Effective September 15, 2015 here is the information you will need to know as a Lyons 103 parent, visiting your child’s school, and Raptor.

Raptor is a web-based visitor management system that features instant sex offender and custody alerts while tracking visitors. All visitors to our schools must present a valid government ID at the main entrance and offices. Valid IDs include state ID cards and driver’s licenses from all 50 states in the United States, any US government issued ID (such as a veteran card), Green Card from any country, and Consulate Card (Mexico only). That ID will then be scanned, a visitor badge will be created, and then all passing visitor may be granted access for their visit. Badges must be worn and returned to the main office. If the system raises a question about a visitor’s background, the school administrator(s) will take the necessary steps to ensure the appropriateness of each individual’s visit.

If you have children who are enrolled at Lyons Township High School and Morton West High School and have visited that school, you will be familiar with this system and the safety it provides. I am confident you join me in creating safer schools for our students, staff, and community.
Sincerely,

Kyle Hastings
Interim Superintendent
